The Thirst Project
In many countries there isn't any safe clean drinking water. Many children get sick because they don't get clean drinking water. The Thirst Project is a movement of High School and College Students that exists to raise awareness of and bring solutions to the clean water crisis. The thirst project began with 7 college students that heard about the water crisis. The Thirst Project began in the year 2007. Water is the problem. They are trying to get clean safe drinking water for people and children. In average a women walks 3075 miles to collect water for there family.
The solution to the water crisis is getting clean water. It costs from about $7,800 in Uganda to $20,000 in Kenya.This means that one well in could provide up to 500 people. One well can save many lives. Three countries being helped is Uganda , Kenya and Swaziland. We can help by donating money so that the thirst project can make more wells in more countries. I raised a dollar by telling people about the water crisis in come countries. I felt bad because here where we live we just turn on the sink and we get clean water. On the other hand, in those 3 countries that I listed above have to walk for miles to get clean water. By drinking dirty water you don't get proper sanitation, some people die because of the diseases by contaminated water . Many people die because of the diseases. I haven't been in that situation of contaminated water. Clean water can change someone 's life because they won't get diseases. The solution to the water crisis is not to waste too much water here in the cities were there is clean water.
Now that I learned about the water crisis I learned that water is valuable to us. Without water there is no life. We should take care of the water in our community because water is needed especially in the summer. We need water so we won't get dehydrated. Water is important because all living organisms and the ecosystem. Water is important because we need to stay hydrated. Our body can;t live without water. That's why I think water is important to us.
